Dear Beau

I had such a fantastic morning with you. It was so nice being able to get ready together. I also don't think I mentioned just how dashing you looked this morning in your starched white button up, Levis and shiny cowboy boots. I love to see my man in his boots. Can't wait for the weekend so we can spend every minute together!

Dilemma

So my mom sent me a link today of several coats that are on sale. She wants me to pick one out for my upcoming birthday. YAY! Well I narrowed the 95 choices down to 3, but I can't go any further. I'm horrible at making decisions - especially when ordering online!! So this is where you lovely ladies come in. Now keep in mind, that even though the outfits that are shown on the models are adorable, I will mainly be wearing this with jeans, pants or a dress. But mainly jeans, I'm sure. OK, Without further adieu:

So chic and I'm loving it with the white tights and tall boots. This one is available in black and ivory

I like that this one is double breasted with blouson sleeves. This one comes in iris, red, camel or black
I like the A-line of this, but will the sleeves make it too little girly? And the only color left in this is grey or black

So what's the verdict?? And thanks for any and all help in advance!!

Slow Day = Random Post

Ok, so today is a little slow at the office. The boss is out so I have been playing a little this afternoon.

I scheduled my hair appointment with Alan at my fave hair salon. I only get my hair cut 3 maybe 4 times a year. Yeah, I know. The cost wasn't the issue (or it didn't used to be the issue until I met Alan) the issue was that I liked my hair long and I only went in to get it trimmed or re-vamped. Well, about 3 months after beau and I got married (in July, I believe) I decided to chop about 7-8" off without letting him know what I was doing. Eeek! Long story short, there was an argument about him not calling me while he was on a fishing trip. He came home from his little manly outing, I woke up the next morning and took it upon myself to go to the salon and chop my hair off. I knew that would show him. Mature, I know. So 6 months later I am finally going back in for another cut. I need a new style, but I want to keep the length, ya know? The layers have grown out and my bangs are officially no longer bangs. Oh how I miss my long hair!! I thought I would show you all a little before and after. Makes me sad! Do you know how long it's going to take for my hair to get that long again??? The second pic was even taken in October, so it had already grown some since then. Oh and don't pay attention to the puffy shirt. It's a lot cuter in person :)

I found a wonderful place in our area that does spray tanning. Not the booth kind, but the person actually spraying you kind. I have done the booth thing and it never comes out right. Plus I got a coupon for buy 1 get 1 free!! Woohoo! My friend Lauren and I are hosting a couples shower for our friend Alison at my house in which I will be wearing a dress and my legs are going to need a little pick-me-up in the tanning department!! I think I will get sprayed before V-day (just in case I need to look a little more tan for any V-day celebrations :)) and use the free one before the shower.

I have also managed to completely depress myself by looking over my taxes. I am self-employed so I get hit pretty hard come April 15. This year is no different than the others, except I am filing jointly with Beau, we have a house and he has been paying in. So whatever he was going to get back vanishes into thin air based on what I owe :( Poor guy. So sad! It's also been very hard to put money aside for taxes while at the same time trying to keep your savings and fun account alive too!

Weekend Happenings

Hello ladies!! How was every one's weekend?? We had another eventful couple of days. I'll have to make this quick because I have some catching up to do at work (re: sick)

Friday night Beau and I met up with my sis (Chee) for some yummy Mexican food at the delicious Armandos and then out for some drinks. It was a blast as usual to get to hang out with her.

Saturday morning I woke up and was craving sausage, biscuits and gravy. Well all I had was the sausage, so I made our gravy and biscuits from scratch - without a recipe, mind you. Let me just say, don't ever attempt this unless you really know what you are doing. I didn't know you could screw up biscuits so bad, but I did. Beau ate it all up like there was no tomorrow. I opted for cereal instead :) I'll tell you who else like the biscuits. Miss Daisy! She's found out that she can jump up and reach the counter tops now. (Did I mention that she's HUGE! What happened to my baby D?) When she first did it we thought it was adorable....now, not so much. She is up there all the time and I caught her doing this:

Now do you think I scolded her? No! I'm a wuss and she looked so cute. My kids are totally going to walk all over me.... I spent the rest of the morning cleaning and then we headed to see my parents. They had asked us to come over for steaks and I wasn't about to pass that up! Oh and PappaT got a new car so I had to check out his new "whip" - I think that's the slang kids are using these days. I'm officially in love with his car! It's fast and shiny and smells so good! He and momma have coined it the "silver bullet" named after their favorite beer, of course. Check out those wheels. It's a beauty!

And I'll leave you with an image of my lil sis, Binks. Not sure why we call her Binks, maybe because when she was a baby she loved her "binky" aka pacifier. Who knows. Anyways, this is what happens when you leave an 8 year old alone with your camera. Check out that nose! HA She's totally going to hate me for posting this. I love that little girl!

Happy Monday!!

Sick as a dog

I've been MIA the last couple of days because I have not been feeling well at all. I think I might have caught the stomach bug that has been slowly creeping through my office! I've been home the last couple of days trying to kick this thing. I've been achy, have had a fever and haven't been able to keep any food in. Not fun. But on a lighter note (pun intended) I lost 4 pounds since this fun little stomach bug! And since last Saturday I am down 6 pounds! Woohoo!! Beau and I have been working out like crazy (5 days a week) and I hope some of the weight I've lost is from that too.

I have to brag a little about my wonderful hubby! First off, last week he brought me home a cast iron skillet just completely out of the blues! Now, since I love to cook, I thought that was so sweet. He had gone shopping during his lunch break and picked up the little beauty. I love it and have already used it a couple of times! Then, last night he made me a bath. I thought that was so sweet. He knew I was so achy and he felt bad. What a sweetie! He's also done the dishes and all the laundry! Maybe I should get sick more often :)

I hope everyone is having a great week. I am off to eat some mac n' cheese. Hopefully this will settle well since nothing else has.

I can't resist!

So during my lunch break I started skimming the Pottery Barn website and decided to go to PBKids and check out some bedding for my little sis' room. I then jumped to the baby rooms, because I couldn't resist and found some of the most adorable cribs, bedding, quilts, sheet sets, rugs, lamps, mobiles....I could go on and on! Now, Beau and I are nowhere near to expanding our family, but let me tell you, we both have some strong baby fever! He will come home at night and say things like "I can't wait until we have a little girl and she runs and jumps in my arms when I get home!" I mean you should see how excited he gets when Daisy runs to him when he gets home, I can only imagine when it's our baby!! We both LOVE kids. We even have our babies names picked out :) Not sure I'm fully ready to give up my easy going schedule, date nights and...wine! It will happen one day, when the good Lords timing is right!! For now, I will continue to look and drool over the beautiful findings at PB.

Are you also noticing that everything I picked out is for a little girl??? Hmm, maybe I should start looking at the boy rooms too.

NYE Post!

I am finally getting around to posting about our happenings for NYE. We had a really good time and I kept forgetting that this was our first NY together as a married couple! How could I forget that, right?? Anyways, my aunt and cousin were in town so we spent the evening over at my parents house, eating, sipping some wonderful vino and talking. We had a blast. My cousin cooked us some yummy food (from her Top Chef cookbook in her Top Chef jacket) and we had plenty of fireworks to go around. My dad uses the excuse that we do this for my little 8 yr old sis ("G"), but honestly, I'm convinced that even when she's all grown up and out of the house he will still be out there shooting off bottle rockets. The man loves fireworks. Cracks me up!

I'll start off with some pre-New Years pics. I had to get some shots of G in her new Christmas outfit. My mom bought her some new 7's and they were ridiculously cute on her little tush! Now, I don't know about you, but I certainly didn't have designer jeans in elementary school, nor did I have them in junior high or even high school! I got my first pair when I turned 19!! Did I mention she's 8?? OK, well my mom explained to me that "I got a really good deal on them." Whatever makes you feel better momma! :) I have actually been dying to get her some too for a while now...ha! Now, when I put together this precious outfit for miss G...cashmere J.Crew sweater from yours truly, 7's and silver glitter sneakers....she thought she looked like a "nerd." I think her exact words were "Why do you always dress me like a nerd?!?" She just needed some coercing. Once I told her that all the girls at school would think that she looked like Miley Cyrus she was all for it!
She's so humiliated! Poor G!! Can you see the fabulousness of her funky sparkly sneakers?? I love those!Mimi, me, beautiful cousin Tay and GDaisy getting some love from my momma! I'm sure she was doing what she does best...online shopping :)

I've completely digressed from my New Years post here. Whoops! OK, so onto our night.
Me and Beau!Cousin Tay and me in her chef jacket
Our exciting gift from my aunt, J.Lo. It's an electric wine bottle opener. We already had one, but the way we use it, it's bound to go out soon so now we have a backup!!
Pops, J.Lo and Momma - How many Okies does it take to light some Blackcats?? HA

Hope everyone had a fabulous New Years! Sorry this is so late. My boss was away today so it gave me a chance to get caught up on blogging!! Yay for no boss Fridays!

Hot Pockets!

I have to let you all in on my recent find when walking down the frozen breakfast aisle at our Krogers. I am always trying to find something quick in the morning that isn't going to completely ruin my calories for the day. I usually just throw a Nutri-Grain waffle in the toaster and wrap it up and go. You'd be surprised how tasty those things are without syrup! Well ,I went to get my waffles, and I came across the Breakfast Hot Pockets. I looked over the box a couple of times and went ahead and threw them in my cart. And boy am I glad I did!! I am in love with these little guys! I bought the sausage, egg and cheese kind. Delish!! And bonus, they are in between a 100-150 calories for one pocket! A lot of times when I eat breakfast at 8, I start getting hungry and thinking about lunch around 10. But I stay pretty full off of this little pocket. Plus, Beau loves them too! Just thought I would share a little food facts with you all today!

Oh and I am finally going to get my NYE post off today too. Can we say a little late??? Well, I couldn't find my camera/computer connector to download my pics. I know, excuses, excuses! Better late than never, right? :) Happy Friday!!

Manic Monday

Here is the way my morning has gone:

I wake up, turn on my straightener, finish "putting my face on" (as my mimi calls it) and went to do my hair. I got through the left side and went to do the right when I noticed that it wasn't hot. At all! Umm I don't know about you, but I NEED to straighten my hair in the morning! It's just not possible not to. Thankfully I still have my trusty curling iron and was able to smooth out some of the frizz.

Then I went to let Daisy out and she has found a new love. Digging! She ran in the house with mud all over her paws and I'm chasing her so she doesn't get all over our carpet. I put her in her cage, pack up and head to work.

I then receive a call from our alarm company telling me that there has been a break in at our house at the back door. Are you kidding me????? So I rush home, panicking mind you, and sit in my car in our cul-de-sac for almost an hour waiting for the cop to show. He never showed so I went down and got the girl at the model home. Seriously what were we going to do? We walked through the backyard and I looked at the door and it was just slightly opened. I wasn't about to go up to the door, but the chick I was with just walked right in! Apparently she's much more brave than I am!! It appeared that the door was never locked and it had barely been shut and the wind knocked it open. False alarm! Do you know how stupid I feel?? I completely blame Daisy for this one. If she wouldn't have ran in with mud all over her feet I would have shut the door (completely) and locked it. Instead I go running after her and leave the door unlocked. You live and learn, I guess.

Happy Monday! It's back to work for this girl :(
