Happy Birthday my Love!

Today is my amazing husbands birthday! I couldn't be more excited to celebrate today. You see, I have a thing with "firsts." First Christmas, Valentine's day, birthdays, etc. Well this is his first birthday as a married man! I know, corny. Since he is turning the big 2-5, I figured I would make a list of 25 things that I love about this man!
  1. he makes me laugh - gotta love a man with a sense of humor
  2. giggle talk - he coined this term back in high school. it's a certain way we talk to each other. love it!
  3. his prayers - he prays every night before we eat dinner and before we go to bed
  4. pet names - he's aarbear (Aaron) and mine is baybay
  5. the way he grabs my hand when we are laying in bed and kisses it and says "goodnight babe"
  6. the mornings when we lay around and snuggle for an extra 5-10 minutes.
  7. how excited he is when he walks through the door every day from work
  8. he's patient - even in Houston traffic!
  9. he loves my family and adores my little sister
  10. he loves our daisy mae more than i would have ever thought
  11. he's my rock, my strength and my provider - i am so thankful for all that he has done for us
  12. he doesn't complain when i hog the t.v. - he has grown to love the shows i love
  13. his faith - he has such a strong faith in God and that is so important to me
  14. he loves going to church and will get upset if we don't make a service
  15. he grills an amazing steak
  16. he's so incredibly sweet - he tells me all the time how beautiful he thinks i am and let's face it, us girls need that!
  17. he works out with me - he hates the 30 day shred too :)
  18. he prefers his cowboy boots over dress shoes which i just adore!
  19. he's super cute and his butt looks awesome in levi's ;)
  20. he is a hard worker and is super dedicated to his job
  21. he takes pride in his home and wants it to look as nice as possible
  22. he's clean! sometimes cleaner than i am....
  23. he has a ton of confidence...sometimes annoying since he thinks he's "the man", ha!
  24. he's a good listener
  25. he loves me more than i ever thought was possible

I love you honey and I am so blessed to call you my husband! Happy Birthday!!

Going away

Beau and I are heading out of town this weekend. Tomorrow his brother is graduating from Lackland Air Force Base, so we are heading to San Antonio. We will spend the day there and then we are off to a resort in Austin. Why are we spending the weekend away you ask?? Well, Saturday just so happens to be my handsome Beau's birthday!! He is turning the big 25...yes I married a younger man, but only by a month :) We are also having a pretty big day on Sunday as it's our 1 year anniversary!! Nice date planning, huh ladies? You see, I figured if our wedding day was the day after Beau's birthday then he would never forget! Actually.....it was the one weekend that worked out with all of our vendors. Him never being able to forget it is just an added bonus! So we will spend Friday through Monday soaking up the sun, err rain, depending on the weather. Either way it will be amazing! I'm so excited to spend 3 days away with my husband!! I can't believe it has already been 1 year. I will have a few scheduled posts for this weekend, so keep a look out! We can't go without a post of wedding pics on the anniversary, now can we?? I'll try not to have picture overload, but I can't promise anything!

I'll give you a little taste of what this weekend will (hopefully) be like:

we are staying here:

with these views:
drinking a couple..who am i kidding..several of these:

indulging in this once or twice:

and hopefully paying this spa a visit:

but best of all, I will be there with him....

Where to start

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! The weather was perfect here, a little windy, but so pretty. We had an extremely busy weekend. I had high hopes for lounging around, cleaning and meeting some friends at a crawfish boil, but those plans were squashed when Beau said "Do you want to go look for cars this weekend?" Meh, not really....

First off, I want to give you all a 30 day shred update. You know, I have watched the Biggest Loser and I LOVE it, to the point of obsession. I have always thought Jillian was awesome. She has amazing abs and her arms are incredible! Well, I guess you could say that my girl crush fizzled out completely after her stupid work out!! Not to say it wasn't awesome (believe me, it kicked my butt) but I got so angry because I was in pain. You can only squat and raise your arms above your head with 5-10 lb weights so many times Jillian! And when you say "a couple more" I'm thinking you mean a couple more, not 6 more!! I don't usually swear, but this video made me yell all sorts of bad things at my TV. And this is just level 1 people! I thought I could handle this since I normally work out 4-6 times a week. I keep repeating "no pain no gain!" I'm pretty sure that if I'm that soar and in pain while doing it I must really be working some muscles. I did a little research on this video and there are success stories everywhere! The before and after pics are pretty incredible, so I'm sticking to it. It's been 4 days so far and I'm starting to get the hang of it now! Oh and this swimsuit came in the mail so I am that much more motivated now. I have to say it fits amazingly and I will be ordering more suits from them in the future!

Next, I wanted to celebrate with you all our exciting new purchase over the weekend! Beau got a new truck!! We could not be more excited! We spent Friday night looking and haggling with sales-men and then all day Saturday (11:30-6:30) doing the same. I think car buying was definitely more painful than Jillian's workout! I have never done this before and I don't plan on doing it again anytime soon. I had no idea I had it in me to be so mean to someone I didn't even know! I guess they bring out the worst in you. I got pretty heated at times (lack of food makes me very cranky) as did Beau, but overall he was pretty calm. I'm the worrier, the one doing numbers in my head to make sure it will all work out. In the end it did! Backstory:We each had cars that were 2 doors. Mine had a backseat, his old truck didn't. Basically they were on the small side. Well, now we have a 4 door truck that seats 6 (5 comfortably:)) It was a little hard to get rid of his old truck though. His grandma had bought it for him in high school before he graduated so it definitely had some sentimental value to it. As you can see from the pics though, we were all smiles when it was all said and done!

And last, Miss Daisy got groomed on Saturday. They tried and tried to get her mats out without having to shave her, but after working on her for hours - she was there from 10:30-7 - they had to go ahead and shave her down. She has about a 1/2" of hair left on her little body. Poor doodle! I do have to say that I think she looks mighty cute. Maybe I'm just getting used it?? I'll do a before and after pic when I get some of her new cut. You have to promise you won't laugh though :)

Happy Monday!

I foresee soreness in my future

So it appears that I have a date with Jillian in about an hour. I broke down and bought this wonderful DVD at lunch today! I'm pretty pumped about it. Word around blog land is it's pretty intense! Beau is working late tonight...again, so I will have plenty of time to work out, get my butt kicked, pull myself off the floor and shower before he even walks through the door :) I guess it's a 3 day a week workout. I will spend the other 2-3 days on the elliptical because I can't get enough of it. Maybe with the two combined I will be beach ready for our Florida trip in July!! I'll let you all know how I feel tomorrow if I can still type....

Evening ladies!

Peeved

Confession: I went to Potbelly's for lunch (amazingness!!) and picked up one of their 'big as your face' cookies and ate.the.whole.thing after my lunch. Sick out!! Seriously? What was I thinking? I'm going to be on my elliptical tonight for hours. Don't know why I felt the need to share that. I normally try to hide my disgusting eating habits! Ok onto my post....

There aren't many things that I allow to get under my skin, but lately I have noticed that I am becoming more irritable about certain things. For instance:

  • When I take my lunch at my desk as opposed to going out to lunch, I am still at lunch! Regardless of whether I'm here or not, if I am eating something, don't come hand me work to do or ask me to get something done before you take your lunch. And please, for the love of Pete, do NOT come talk to me the entire time I am eating. It's uncomfortable for me to sit here and stuff my face while you are sitting across watching me! I use my office lunches as time to catch up on my emails, blogs, etc... Not to chat about something I could care less about!
  • Since we're on the topic of food, I absolutely despise when I am on the phone with someone and they are eating! I can't stand the sound of chips crunching or smacking while we are in full blown conversation. I mean come on! Put the chips down and talk. Or if you are that hungry, we can talk later, right?? It makes me want to scream!! I can barely take the sound I hear when I am eating chips let alone hearing someone else through the phone.

  • Next, I tend to get annoyed when people message me and say "hello!" and then I say "hey, what's up?" and then nothing.......Hello! Where did you go?? If I'm not mistaken, you messaged me, not the other way around. Beau did this the other day and it was so irritating! Exact conversation:

Beau: 9:28am - hey there

Me: 9:28am - hey babe

Me: 9:35am - u know whats annoying...when someone msg's you and you msg back and they go away.....

Beau: 9:35am - oopps (yes, this is how he spells "oops")

Me: 9:35am - yeah, pet peeve numero tres!

Well enough about irritations! I am not a moody person, believe me :) I just thought I should get that off my chest. What are some of your pet peeves??

Did anyone end up pulling any pranks today for April Fools?? I sent Beau an email to his work and personal account saying (idea courtesy of my momma :)) "Congratulations" in the subject line and this in the body: You have just received the Conficker Worm Virus from browneyedgirlsemail. Now, most people would have known about this virus for a while since it's been all over the news, but Beau just heard about it this morning so I knew it would be fresh on his mind. Also, he left in such a hurry he had no idea it was April Fools day. I think he believed it even more because I told him that I got the same email from my co-worker and it must be going through every one's email contacts. He freaked out and started deleting all of his history and cookies and scanning his computer!! I finally called after about 5 minutes and told him it was a joke. I was cracking up the entire time! I'm just glad he didn't go to his IT department before I told him it was a joke....that could have been awkward! HA He actually laughed pretty hard and was impressed that I was able to get him. That never happens!

Have ya'll seen this kitty litter cake?? I'm pretty sure I would puke making this, but it would make a pretty funny joke!

Happy April Fools Day!!

Large Marge.....

Hello ladies!! I can't believe it's Monday again. I am incredibly exhausted from the weekend I had, but it was sooo worth it! The girls and I headed up to Austin to celebrate bestie Alison's bachelorette party. We had a pretty low key night on Friday so we could save up all of our energy for Saturdays activities! Little did we know how much fun we were going to end up having :) We had booked a pontoon boat for Saturday afternoon and it just so happened to be freezing with winds up to 70 mph...not really, but it felt like it! We got on the boat and headed out to a cove to get out of the wind. As we were on our way out we came across a very large party boat. Large Marge was the name. At this point a couple of the ladies had to go to the bathroom and this boat just so happened to have 2! We hopped aboard to use their facilities and found out that this group was there for a bachelor party. We ended up hanging out the rest of the afternoon and had so much fun!! We thought we would be on our little pontoon boat bundled up for 4 hours painting our nails and reading magazines. Boy were we wrong! HA

After the boat ride we headed back to the hotel to get ready for our night on the town! We ate at Z Tejas (delicious) where we had Ali's lingerie party and then hit up the Belmont. We closed down the place!! I can't remember the last time I have stayed out that late. It was so much. Lauren and I showed off our amazing dance moves and I think we just might have been the best dancers that place had seen!! I don't think the Belmont will ever be the same. We danced for probably about 2 hours straight and I'm still feeling the pain today! Seriously, most amazing DJ ever!

All in all, we had an amazing weekend celebrating with Ali! There's so much more, but as one of the girls said "What happens on Large Marge, stays on Large Marge!" Kidding, Beau ;) I guess this is fitting since all of our boys went to Vegas......

Here are some pics of the weekend. I didn't get as many as I wanted since I was busy dancing the whole time. I guess that could be a good thing, ha!

First off, the Capital! I love me some culture :)
Stop laughing Lauren!
Boat ride out to the cove...it was a cold one!
You can't tell in this pic, but I was on 2 boats! Now, I thought
this was pretty cool until they started to spread....not cool!

Our girl, Ali, on stage at the Belmont with other brides!
It was definitely a weekend I won't ever forget! I had the best time and I can't wait to be there when Alison and Mark say "I do!" We are so excited for them!! Hope everyone else had a perfect weekend!

I may or may not have....

Allowed my mom to cut miss Daisy Mae this last weekend with her horse clippers. Yes ladies, our more-than-matted labradoodle needed HORSE hair clippers to get through her fur. I tried to save a buck by letting mi madre do it, but I think I may have made a mistake :( She just doesn't look that cute....at.all. I feel like the worst mom ever!! Not that the groomers would have done any better. I mean come on, when your dog is matted, there is nothing left to do but cut down to the mats which in our case was to her skin. I'm sure our vet thought she was a rescue dog or something last time we took her in. Problem is, we only got half of her cut because her head and upper body took us about 2 hours! Yeah, no pictures of this one. She may or may not look like this:
{Disclaimer: this is not, I repeat, NOT my Daisy, but how funny is it?}

Moral of the story: Friends, don't let friends (err, mom) cut your dog's hair :) Aaron is horrified, I still love her and think she's cute; as only a mother would, but I am a little horrified too. Let's just say that she'll be an inside dog until this grows back.....
