Yeah, I mow

Can we talk for a second about how deathly hot it is?? If you live in TX or any surrounding states in the South you know what I mean. It's been over 100 with 189% humidity for the last few weeks and I'm already sick of it! I break a sweat the second I walk out the door. It's gross. So yesterday, I took a break from the 16 and pregnant marathon (does anyone else feel like they're promoting teen pregnancy??) and went to take Aaron some water while he was outside mowing - really just thinking I was going out to get some sun. I figured if I was already in a sweat I might as well get my tan on. As I watched Aaron come through the backyard with the lawnmower, I thought to myself "I can do that!" I mean how hard is it to mow? Plus it's a great workout I'm sure. I mean, as long as you don't pass out. So I asked him if I could take over for a sec. He nervously said "Ok?" I don't think he liked handing over one of his "man tools" to me but he obliged. I think he was also nervous about the fact that I was a) in a dress and b) barefoot - my mom is gasping right now I'm sure! So I took the bull by the horns, or mower by the handle and went to town. I did pretty good, only stepped on a few of Daisy's landmines, eww, note to husband: please scoop before you mow next time! I get to the middle of the yard and am sweating like nobody's business and I look up and lo and behold there is my husband with this goofy grin on his face holding my camera and snapping away. Apparently he had been doing this the whole time! He then says with a chuckle "You have to blog this!" I had no idea this was going on until I looked up (last pic) and saw him with my camera. You may think that was a smile, but it was really the look of death! I finished up my area and handed it back to him. I looked disgusting! But I felt the need to document this as leverage for our next fight, which will happen, on womanly versus manly duties of the house. I mowed sweetie, which means you can now vacuum and do the laundry! Although, my left shoulder is a little sore and I might have some blisters on my hands. Maybe I'll stick to my indoor cleaning after all.

Oh yeah and yesterday we *almost* bought a puppy! We left church and went to lunch and on our way out the parking lot there was a woman selling lab puppies. We immediately fell in love with a yellow male. He had a white tipped tail and white paws. Precious! My husband, who has been trying to convince me that we need another dog, fell in love. I mean he was hard core smitten by this dog. I'm normally not one to go looking for dogs off the side of the road but the second he saw them we had to stop. A held the one for a while and then said to the lady, without notice "How much are they? $200. "Do you take checks?" Cash only. Did he really just seal the deal without my input?? So we get back in his truck to go find a bank. That's when I knew I had to be the rational one and remind him about our Florida trip this Wednesday. "Oh crap!" he says. I say that we need to call the kennel to make sure they will take care of a 7 week old puppy. And she gives me the news that I know will break A's heart - they have an age minimum of 4 months. :( So, I had the be the bad guy and let my poor husband down. He had already picked out a name for him too. Not even going to say what it was because it was absolutely ridiculous. Just know that we will not be choosing a Zodiac sign for our dog's name! Egh! The whole ride home he was quiet. We got home and he said this, no lie "My heart hurts." I'm thinking I might have to check and see if he still has cajones or not? HA, kidding babe.

Oh Austin, how I love thee

We had a fabulous time in Austin! We spent the weekend at the Barton Creek Resort up in the hills. It was incredible! I didn't want to leave :( When we first checked in we walked up to our room and it was perfect! A coworker of mine has a side travel-agent biz, so he scored us a few upgrades for free!! Our room had a freaking fireplace in it?? Oh and after we had settled in, we heard a knock on the door. We figured it was our luggage, but no, it was a nice man bringing us up some wine. I was officially in love from that moment on. Wine is most certainly the way to my heart! Friday night agenda: Mexican food, plenty of margaritas and queso! Oh it was lovely!

We did a little hiking/walking around the grounds on Saturday - Beau's birthday! The weather was no bueno, but we made the best of it! I didn't realize we were going to be encountering so many slippery rocks on our adventure. I nearly ate it about 300 times. Beau had to walk in front of me and ease me down several times. I also wasn't wearing the most appropriate walking shoes for the day. We spent the rest of the afternoon hopping from the hot tub to the bar. We polished off a few brewski's and played some shuffle board. Touchy subject - I was up on the best out of 5 game but mr. cocky couldn't handle his woman beating him so we had to play 7 games and I lost it. I think the Aqua Tea had something to do with it. I also found out that some liquors make me angry. Not a side I'm wanting to showcase in the future.....

Beau's birthday dinner!

Sunday was our anniversary and it was a beautiful day! We went and had a delicious Easter breakfast and then had an incredible couples massage. Aaah it was so relaxing! We spent the rest of the afternoon laying out by the pool. Not a cloud in the sky! Of course my little Irish man got scorched. He likes to say that he's "golden" even though he looks like a lobster. We went back up to the room and opened presents...well I did. I had ordered something for Beau and it didn't come in on time :( I opened my sweet card and then my gift and it was a new Bible with my new last name on it! Such a sweet gift. I'll love it forever! We ended our anniversary with a dinner at Ruth's Chris. Best steak I've ever eaten, hands down!

All in all it was a perfect weekend! We had a blast and I think we might make this little spot "our spot" for quick getaways. I LOVE Austin! And I never thought Beau would be too thrilled with it since he's an Aggie and all, but he loved it too!! OH and guess what, his company just so happens to have an office there..what what - imjustsayin ;)

Large Marge.....

Hello ladies!! I can't believe it's Monday again. I am incredibly exhausted from the weekend I had, but it was sooo worth it! The girls and I headed up to Austin to celebrate bestie Alison's bachelorette party. We had a pretty low key night on Friday so we could save up all of our energy for Saturdays activities! Little did we know how much fun we were going to end up having :) We had booked a pontoon boat for Saturday afternoon and it just so happened to be freezing with winds up to 70 mph...not really, but it felt like it! We got on the boat and headed out to a cove to get out of the wind. As we were on our way out we came across a very large party boat. Large Marge was the name. At this point a couple of the ladies had to go to the bathroom and this boat just so happened to have 2! We hopped aboard to use their facilities and found out that this group was there for a bachelor party. We ended up hanging out the rest of the afternoon and had so much fun!! We thought we would be on our little pontoon boat bundled up for 4 hours painting our nails and reading magazines. Boy were we wrong! HA

After the boat ride we headed back to the hotel to get ready for our night on the town! We ate at Z Tejas (delicious) where we had Ali's lingerie party and then hit up the Belmont. We closed down the place!! I can't remember the last time I have stayed out that late. It was so much. Lauren and I showed off our amazing dance moves and I think we just might have been the best dancers that place had seen!! I don't think the Belmont will ever be the same. We danced for probably about 2 hours straight and I'm still feeling the pain today! Seriously, most amazing DJ ever!

All in all, we had an amazing weekend celebrating with Ali! There's so much more, but as one of the girls said "What happens on Large Marge, stays on Large Marge!" Kidding, Beau ;) I guess this is fitting since all of our boys went to Vegas......

Showery Weekend

It was another wonderful weekend! Beau and I had ourselves a good ol' time at the rodeo. I got to meet all of his coworkers which was fun. It made for a long night, but so worth it! Saturday, my mom and I went to a bridal shower for one of my besties, Alison. Her wedding is on April 25 and we are all so excited! The hostesses did a wonderful job! Everything was so pretty!! I was only able to download the pics of the decorations. I took more of the actual shower, but on a different camera. If you want to see more head on over to miss Lauren's blog. She was able to get more than I did.

Sunday Beau and I slept in until 10:30! I was so bummed because we missed church and we've really enjoyed the last couple of services. Our pastor does segments that last 4+ weeks and this last segment has been on relationships. It's been so eye opening for us each week, so we didn't want to miss one. I never set an alarm on the weekend because it's VERY rare that I sleep past 8. I don't know what happened to me! We spent the afternoon/evening doing our taxes. Let me tell you, if doing taxes doesn't test your relationship, I don't know what will. I'm not as patient as I'd like to think and Beau kept asking questions that neither one of us had the answer to so it was slightly frustrating. Not to mention the fact that I am self-employed and he is not, so that throws a whole other kink into it all! I miss the days when my mom and dad did this for me - ha! After that we were both a little stressed so Beau opened up some wine and we relaxed a little. It was nice!

I hope everyone had an awesome weekend! My grandparents (dad's side) are coming in to town this Thursday and I couldn't be more excited!! My grandma hasn't been feeling the greatest for the last year or so and they weren't able to make it to the wedding so I am so excited for them to come. However, this does mean that I am going to be cleaning like a mad woman again! Can't have a messy house when grandma comes.

Happy 50th Pappa!

Today is my dad's 50th birthday! It has been such an amazing weekend celebrating it. My dad has been such a great inspiration in my life and he is the best dad a girl could ask for! He is incredibly patient......I guess he kind of had to be with all girls in the family :) I am so proud of my dad and look up to him so much. I still remember the seconds before he walked me down the aisle. I was so nervous and we had all been so emotional leading up to the day, but he held it together for me in that moment. I looked up at him before they opened the doors and said "I love you daddy." It was one of the best moments from that day.

Now onto the celebrating. My mom planned a surprise party at Americas. It's one of our favorite places to eat. She invited neighbors, friends and coworkers. He was so surprised and incredibly grateful. It was such a great night! The food was awesome and the wine kept flowing. He got some pretty fun gifts. I thought I would share some pics from the night!

It's Monday....

I hope every one's weekend was great! We definitely had a busy weekend. Friday night we went out with 2 of our fave couples, Lauren & Ryan and Mark & Alison. We hit up "our" spot for dinner, El Tiempo, then headed to a bar to listen to some live music. So much fun! Here's a little pic from the night. It's not the best of the Mr., but he was refusing to cooperate for the camera so this is all we got. Did we really need the mustard in there with us??? Come on hun :)

Saturday was pretty eventful. I went to my parents house to babysit my little sister, G. She's 8.....pretty big gap, I know. She was a "surprise" to the fam. My sister and I were 16 and 17 when mom and dad broke the news. I'm not going to lie, I was a little shocked, errr angry at the time, but I LOVE this little girl soooo much! I can't imagine our family without her. She is the sweetest little thing ever! So back to Saturday. My older sister, C, and I took G to her softball game. What a fun family day. She did awesome! I was so proud of her. Picture this: bases loaded, G goes up to bat; my heart is racing and I'm thinking "please don't strike out", she swings at the first pitch and misses (aww) and second pitch she hits a line drive out to left field!! AWESOME! I don't think I've ever been so excited! She got 2 runs in (they tagged the last girl out) and the whole crowd was on their feet. So exciting. The cutest part was when she ran into the dugout, she started telling all of her friends about her to big sisters that came to watch her game. So precious! Here's a pic of her mid-swing:

Her team won the game! It was a close game, but they pulled through. We went back to the house and C, made some wonderful food and fixin's and we watched some football. Our family team (our whole family went there, g-parents, aunts, uncles, parents), OSU Cowboys were playing UT and it was such a good game even though they lost . It was so nice to spend some time with both of my sisters! I took G back to our house for a sleep over. She was so excited. We carved pumpkins and ordered Pizzia :) Here's some of her carving.

All in all it was a great weekend! My parents came to pick G up yesterday and we had a little cookout at the house. It was a beautiful afternoon and the weather was gorgeous. Perfect weekend!

Weekend Rewind

So I was just about to post this evening and the Mr. needed me to sew some of his pants. He somehow got a hole in his crotch and those were the ones he has to wear tomorrow! Like he doesn't have 5 others pairs just like it. Right before the Hills started too. Perfect timing, hun. Oh well. He told me I was "such a good wife", so that made it worth it!

How was everyones weekend?? Ours was great! Friday night we did pizza and wine and then went to grab a dessert at Chili's (so good!). We had to go to the store later to get some fixins' for my chili I was going to make for Saturday game day! It's my mommas recipe and she has a secret ingredient...beer! Yumm-O! The Ags played early on Saturday so we had some of our faves over, the Rudy's and it was fabulous! The Aggies lost, but it was fun anyways. I wasn't feeling the best Sunday morning so we missed church. I was so bummed because they started a new series. We'll be there next week for sure! Work today was a little scary. First of all, I am a Landman (not very PC is it?) at an O&G company and we are having to make some cutbacks due to our client having to make some cutbacks. It's a little scary, even though I think I will be safe. So when I got home all I wanted was a little vino to take my mind off things and we drank our last bottle Friday night, of course!! So instead, we took Daisy on a 3 mile walk. Poor thing was panting so hard when we finished. She stopped several times during the walk in hopes that we would carry her the rest of the way home, ha! When we got back I made us breakfast for dinner.....our fave!

I wanted to thank everyone for their ideas for my MIL b-day. I had less time than I thought I would so I picked up some flowers, a gift card and mug from Starbucks and a card. She liked it! The Mr. is her "baby" (even though he's mid 20's) so he always seems to get more gratitude for the gifts I buy. So not fair!
