Hilarious!

My coworkers fiance and good friend sent me this hilarious card this morning! She is such a sweetie and so funny!

So, umm, yes MY birthday is tomorrow!!! Well, technically it's not tomorrow. I was born on Leap Year, February 29, 1984. Now if you recall, Feb 29th only comes around every 4 years. Some may see it as getting shafted since my real birthday isn't every year, but since I'm a glass half full kind a' girl, I like to see it as a plus! You see, I like to celebrate on the 28th to keep it in February, but also on March 1st, because it is kind of like the 29th. See??

Now, I am like a 5 year old when it comes to birthdays. Beau thinks I'm ridiculous, but I really don't care. I woke up this morning, bright and early, super excited that it is my birthday weekend! Beau was a tad annoyed! HA You can blame my parents :) for always making me feel so special and always having something exciting going on for our birthdays! I can look back on all of my birthdays and remember so many wonderful times! My mom used to be quite the cake decorator. She made us the most amazing cakes for our birthdays growing up! I wish I had pics on my computer so I could show you all! And don't get me started on all the fun festivities and crafts she would have for us to do during our sleepovers!! So yes, birthdays are a big deal. Tonight we are going to celebrate with my parents. They are cooking up some yummy steaks plenty of wine and we ordered a cake from the same lady that did the shower cake (see below post) so I can't wait to see it!! I told her what my vision for it was which might include pink, orange and leopard print :) Tomorrow night Beau is taking me to the fabulous Da Marco's restaurant. It's going to be such a romantic evening!! I will be sure to have a post up on Monday with plenty of pics!!

Hope you all have a great weekend!!

Catch up!

First off, I want to say thank you all for your sweet comments about the shower we hosted and the well wishes for Beau! You girls are the best! Next, I am going to play catch up with some awards and tags that I have received. Things have been super crazy the last couple of weeks and I am just now getting to them. I received the Sweet Lemony award from Missy at Missy in Pink. I love reading her blog and seeing all of her fun wedding plans! She is super cute and such a sweet and fun girl!! Thanks Missy! Now since I'm at work, I have to make this quick, so I'm breaking the rules...sorry!!
Next I was tagged by the Fabulous :) Danielle, at Well, that's just fabulous for the bag tag! Danielle's blog is so cute!! She designed it herself! Here are the rules (which once again I will be breaking)

1) Post a picture of whatever bag you are carrying as of late. No, you cannot go to your closet and pull out that cute little purse you used back before you had kids. We want to know what you carried today or the last time you left the house. No cheating!

2) Say how much it costs. This is not to judge. This is for entertainment purposes only. So spill it. And if there is a story to go along with how you obtained it, do tell.

3) Tag some friends.

So here is the bag that I have been carrying for way too long!! This is not my picture or my exact bag. I found the pic of it on Ebay. Since I don't have my camera here at the office this will have to do! It's from Banana and I love it. Mine is actually the momma version of this one! It's huge!! It's often mistaken for luggage. Oh well. I love it! Oh and it's black. I think this one in the pic is brown. And I believe I paid a little under $300 for it. Maybe around $280.

Happy Friday everyone!! I think today might be a multiple post day!! (MPD) There is lots of exciting things going on this weekend!

Couples Shower Recap!

We had a great time this weekend! The shower went amazing and everything turned out so good. If you would have seen me Friday night, in the ER mind you, you would not have thought this would be the case! My poor Beau was having some major stomach pains so we went to the doc to have it checked out. They drew blood and found out that his white blood cell count was very high, 17 to be exact. So the doc asked us to go to the ER and have an ultrasound done on his belly to make sure his organs, mainly appendix, was OK. Well we waited and waited and waited and after about 3 hours we decided to go home. He hadn't been in pain for several hours and he was getting very mad (and grouchy) about how long we had set there so we went home. He feels fine still so I'm not sure what it was. But as you can imagine, I was freaking out! I hadn't finished cleaning yet and we didn't get home until 10 that night!! After sitting in the ER waiting room for 3 hours with their bright lights I came down with one of the worst migraines ever! I went home, tried to fall asleep, took a quick shower and cleaned for the next 2 hours. I think I finally got in bed at 2ish. I was so thankful that the next morning Lauren and Ryan came over early to help us finish up on all the food and cleaning! I don't think we would have been able to get it all done if it wasn't for them!! Aside from the ER drama, the shower went perfect! I knew it would be great, but I was so happy with the way everything turned out. Everything looked so perfect and put together and the food was fabulous! I told Lauren that we might need to be professional shower hosters! ;) Here are some pics of the evening:

{the lovely hostesses - Lauren and me}

{adorable cake!}

{menu card and appetizers}

{shrimp cocktail}

{more food!}

{sangria}

{i got a little crazy with the fruit for the sangria!}

{and last, but not least, my handsome beau and me!}

All in all, it was a perfect evening! I had the best time and I can't wait for Mark and Alison's wedding this April! It's hard to imagine that our group of friends are almost all married off!! Next we'll be having baby showers...haha!

Hmm....

At this very moment, as I type this out, Beau is singing at the top of his lungs "We shall be free" by Garth Brooks while in the bathroom. Yes, this song is about 10 years old. I'm cracking up because his voice can go higher than mine! It's moments like these when I really thank God for my Ipod so I can tune him out ;) HA I love my high pitched singing man!

Couples Shower!

Hello ladies!! I hope you are all having a great week! I have been super busy preparing for a couples shower that Beau, me and the Rudy's are hosting this weekend. I didn't realize how much work went into hosting!! It's been so fun planning and buying the fun stuff though. Beau and I have been cleaning like crazy people and trying to get the house in somewhat of an order before Saturday. Exciting news: our dining table and hallway table arrived this morning so now our house feels complete! Here's some pics -

I can't wait to take pics of the house this weekend when it's all clean and decorated! Now onto the shower details. The theme is Stock the Bar. Here is the invite -

Our actual invite wouldn't attach, so I found this one online. Our font is much cuter and we worded it a little different. I love the colors! We really tried to incorporate them in the whole theme of the night. I ordered a cake that is two tiers; bottom is square with colorful stripes and the top is round with colorful polka dots. I can't wait to see how it turns out! We are having about 30 people so we have to be careful with our drinks and menu so that we didn't end up spending a fortune feeding everyone. We decided on a keg of beer for the guys and some delicious sangria for the girls. Now for the menu. We wanted to make sure the guys had something meaty that would fill them up and some sides and snacks to go along with it too. We decided on: tenderloin sliders (mini tenderloin sandwiches), asparagus prosciutto bundles, shrimp cocktail, mushroom/cheese bruschetta, olive tapenade/cheese bruschetta, Texas caviar, spinach artichoke dip, cream cheese with chipotle raspberry sauce and possibly tomato caprese. Sounds like a lot of food! I was able to make a menu card for each dish so that people know what they are eating. They match our napkins and plates which is perfect!

Being an Etsy lover that I am, I did some searching and found these cute "marriage tips" cards so people can leave something funny or sincere for the soon to be married couple!

I found them at InkspotWorkshop and they are just precious. Of course you can do them more formal for a bridal shower, but we wanted something a little more fun that some of the guys wouldn't mind writing on.

I am taking off work tomorrow, yay! No relaxing for this girl though. I am picking up the cake, meeting up with my mom so we can go shopping at Costco for the food, and then back home for more cleaning and hopefully I will still be able to make my mani/pedi appointment. Good thing tomorrow is payday ;)

I hope all of you lovely ladies have a wonderful weekend!! I'll be back Monday with lots of exciting pics!

Sisterly Love

{Sister and me}

Yes, there is another birthday in my family! Today is my fabulous big sister's 26th birthday!! I can't believe she is 4 years away from 30. HA! She took the day off of work and my mom met her for a yummy steak lunch. Sounds like fun to me! She also just returned from the Grand Cayman islands with one of her girlfriends for a little birthday treat! Jealous? Why, yes I am! I'm sad I'm missing out on the festivities tonight (momma's homemade tacos, all the fixins and some chocolate mousse to boot!) to help her celebrate! Being the big sis, I always looked up to her. She was kind of like my role model. She was taller and always had the cute clothes that she rarely let me borrow because she was worried I would spill something on one of her new shirts :) I was pretty notorious for spilling a drink or chocolate down the front of my tops! However, I do remember sneaking some of her clothes out of her closet when she wasn't looking and then so carefully putting them back - HA! She was what I wanted to be when I "grew up" and still is. She's an independent, beautiful and oh so sweet sister. I love her to death!

Happy Birthday Chee!! I miss you and I hope you have a fabulous birthday!! Can't wait to help you celebrate this weekend!

Weekend Hi-lights

I hope everyone enjoyed their V-day weekend! I've been reading up on your blogs and some of you were treated very well this year :) I was so looking forward to this Valentine's day since it was our first one as a married couple. I know that doesn't really mean all that much, but it did to me. We were just recovering from a small argument that happened Thursday night, so it wasn't that romantic weekend that I was hoping for. You see, I wanted the love to start flowing on Friday after work and continue on into Sunday. A little much, maybe? Our little argument would have been over with if one of us would have just humbled ourselves (reminds me of our sermon yesterday at church; it really spoke to me) but neither one was willing to break, so it continued on. It wouldn't have bothered me that much if it was any other weekend, but it went down on LOVE weekend! Oh well. That's life, right? I always seem to have the highest hopes for holidays and birthdays, but then something always happens and sucks the excitement right out of me. I need to learn to be more realistic! Things happen in life that aren't planned. I'm not living a fairytale story. I feel like if I learned how to deal better with these little bumps in the road then I would be so much better off. Anyways, Beau came and talked to me Saturday afternoon and apologized. He was very sweet and so sincere. We had a great talk. We were back to laughing and being our lovey-dovey selves like we are 98% of the time. We went ahead with our steak night dinner plans. He cooked everything except for the chocolate merigue pie, which I made. I felt like that was a little too intense for him to take on! Our dinner was delicious and dessert was the icing on the cake!! We snuggled on the couch after dinner and watched a movie and were in bed by 11. Ha we are so old! The night that I thought was going to end with a Papa Johns heart-shaped pizza ended perfectly.

{the pie! my meringue peaks dind't peak very well,
but it was mmmm so good!}

Yesterday we went to church and listened to a sermon on relationships. Perfect timing! It was so good and we both left feeling so uplifted. Before we headed out the door, Beau bought me 2 Jimmy Needham Cd's. He was visiting our church again and I just love his voice. We then went for a delish Mexican lunch and hit up Home Depot so we could spend the afternoon weed picking, planting and mulching. It was such a beautiful day and I had the best time being outside. Although, I have to mention that I could barely get out of bed this morning because my whole body ached!

{the yard after all of our hard work! see those flowers?
Yep, I planted those :)}

{Daisy was summoned to the backyard since she can't
seem to stay in our yard! she did not like this one bit}

Well I hope everyone is having a fabulous Monday! I'm going to try to post later this week about the couples shower we are hosting this weekend!! I'm very excited about it :)

Changing table

So last night we went out with some friends for happy hour. I went into the bathroom after a couple of beers and noticed that they had a baby changing table in the women's bathroom. Now this typically doesn't surprise me when I go into restaurants and see them but it kind of shocked me to see one in a bar! Is this normal?? I mean, would you take your baby to a smoky bar with loud music? I dunno, maybe I'm old school :)

Happy Birthday Momma!

Today is my wonderful mothers birthday! I love birthdays in our family. It means the whole family gets together, usually around good food and plenty of wine and we have the best time. We always try to celebrate them for as long as we can. We had her birthday dinner this weekend and it was so good! But today I wanted to do something extra special. I have decided to take off work and spend the entire day with her! It's going to be so nice to spend some quality time with each other. You have no idea how excited I am! I wish I could have been there this morning when she woke up so I could have made her breakfast and waited on her like she did for me for so many years. She is by far the most incredible, patient and caring woman I have ever been around. Not to mention the most beautiful. I hope one day that I can be half the mother and wife that she has been! She is truly amazing. We have big plans for today. We are going to meet my dad and sister for lunch and then do a little afternoon shopping. I'll leave you with a couple of my fave pics of the birthday girl!

love this picture from my wedding

Happy Birthday momma!! I love you so much and I hope you have an amazing birthday! Can't wait to spend the day with you :)

HOT

So I was talking to Beau over g-chat and he was asking me if I had blogged today. You see, he's very interested in my blog. It's not the fact that it's Friday and he's bored at work ;) I told him I hadn't because I couldn't come up with anything new/fun. This is when he said and I quote "blog about how hot i am." Wow, conceded much? So I thought I would give this a try. I'm sure he will be completely embarrassed, but he's the one that came up with this idea. And of course, there are pictures to go along with it!

Reasons why I think Beau is hot - in no particular order:

He loves wine :) Seriously, I don't know
what I would do if he didn't like a little vino!

He's so good to me. He treats me like a queen
(most of the time :)) and has such a sweet heart

His confidence (obvs)

He has a huge heart for kids and animals
(even if they are made out of towels)
But most of all because he makes me so incredibly happy
and we have the most fun when we're together -
just the two of us! Can't get much hotter than that, right?
So there you have it, Beau! A post dedicated to your HOTness. Thanks for the blog material!

Oh Daisy!

A couple of things from the last few days:

I locked me and Daisy out of the house when I was letting her out in the backyard. I don't know how I did this, but I did. Our two side gates are padlocked...from the other side. Genius! And I am terrified of heights so there was no climbing the fence. How did I used to do this when I was 8?? So we waited..and waited for Beau to get home so he could let in his 2 favorite girls. Did I mention how cold it was outside?

Saturday, I woke up to Daisy barking at 3 in the morning only to find that she had completely shredded her bed and chewed into our floor molding and wall. Why she did this, I have no idea. I'm convinced she is punishing me for leaving her at home when I have to go to work.

Last night I went into our closet only to find Daisy (seems to be a theme here?) eating my unopened tube of super glue! Seriously what is wrong with this dog?? The stuff smells toxic and I can't imagine it going down smooth. Thankfully, after spending a few minutes on the phone with poison control, I was told it wasn't harmful to babies or dogs. Whew! As for her punishment, well her lips were stuck to her gums and she had dried patches of super glue all down her tongue. I doubt she'll be getting into that again!

It used to be so nice when all she would do was lay around the house and sleep. I miss those days!

One last thing - has anyone else had trouble viewing blogger through Internet Explorer? I use Firefox, but I was told that some couldn't see anything when using Explorer. Is it a problem on my end? I've been trying to fix it, but can't figure it out.

Obsessing over this.....

How precious is this dress?? I'm in love! It keeps popping up on my Shop it to Me email and I think I need it. I love how the waist cinches in. And the colors are just perfect!! Now how can I convince Beau that we can fit this in the "random" part of our budget? :)
